The Lost Tribe
(for us)
In a world of cookie-cutter ideals, molded epithets and false morality, the individual has been given free reign to grow.
And yet, the idividual, in most cases, refuses to grow. What do I mean? I mean the world has been handed a great luxury - freedom of the mind. I'm sure the cynics in the crowd are scoffing at the very idea as we speak, but you must understand - it is not now as it once was. It may be that we are still persecuted for "thought crimes", to a degree. But _only_ to a degree. We have taken our new freedom and done nothing but scream lustfully for more.
However, I do not argue this lust. We have a gift, a certain freedom, friend. No longer are we nomads, forced into a life of endless toil. Technology has given us the world at our fingertips. Our very fingertips. We are taking great boons of life for granted. At the start, man lived an average of, say, 35 years, a span in which a person was pushed into a world and began work at the offset. There was no hope of reprieve, no rising in rank, no "great justice", no individuality. A person was born, and died, working.
I do not condescend to the workers of the modern millenia. But look at you. You read this. You _read_. This is a blessing that we have come to think of as commonplace. Many people now know not only one, but multiple languages. It is the evolution of the mind, friend.
Our fantasies and beliefs and dreams have come to mold our lives. It is the era of the great "self-made man". This is a wonderous thing. There is always a starting point now, always a way in, no matter how hopeless a situation looks. College is a thing of commonplace, vast libraries are catalogued for every man's questioning, philosophies on life and death and the great beyond are unique to every man, for not only does he have the ability to reason, he has the time.
This page is for those of you who, like myself, have chosen to see what this world offers. We are the explorers, the self-stylized romantic figure of the ronin, the lone Samurai. But we are not disgraced- merely seperate from the herd.
Elitist? Yes. I will not lie to you. We are elitists. Why? Because we recognize our gift. Not because we think others don't have it - it's because they don't use it. I hold any man ignorant of his abilities in contempt, for the human mind is a great power, no matter its limits.
I make a call to arms, ronin.
Language, like all creation, is evolutionary. We are no longer the dishonored samurai of the past. We are the lone wolves who have massed in a great, new pack. We are the scouts of a new era.
I call to you, my fellow ronin. Down to the last elitist, egotistical one of you. We have faults, as all men. But we shall battle to overcome them. We fight ignorance and stupidity, even though it may be nested in our hearts. For that is the goal of our new society. To evolve. Is it not the goal of every man? Is it worse for us to share that goal? I believe man's greatest gift is his ability to adapt, and his want to overcome. It's what has put us where we are. So I ask you to perhaps glance over what meager things I have to offer, and maybe even offer some contributions of your own. The power of many minds can explore vast possibilites.
Never believe that you can't contribute. Every idea, every stray thought may hold some string of conciousness that another may have never thought of. Invention is not dead - there are still thoughts that man has paid no heed to, and it is these that we should give attention to.
This message is just here to grab your attention. We are the many members of the Lost Tribe. Each tribe member should contribute so that the the Tribe as a whole may benefit. So it is here I have chosen to culminate the ideas of the People.
When I ask you to contribute, I speak not of money or aid. I speak of ideas, essays, events you find signifigant, even some forms of poetry and any form of art. It is the mind that we seek to benefit. I will have done with this long-winded speech, now.
The Lost Tribe accepts all manner of art. This includes any of the following -
- Anything you find intriguing or thought provoking. This could be from a metaphore on the habits of single-celled animals to page #42 in the Kama Sutra.
- Anything you've made in the thoes of deep emotion, be it anger or lust or joy.
- Don't be afraid of seeming perverted or strange - thoughts of all kinds should be studied, (though not neccesarily practiced). ;)
- All forms of physical adeption are accepted as art. Anything from martial arts to weight lifting to ballet.
- Tell us if you've shocked the world - tell us if you are a poetic terrorist. Tell us your PT ideas. Art sabateur? Tell us what you've wanted to do.
- Ah, hell. Look, the idea is to take all of you people and put you together so that the creativity of the world isn't lost. Too much of today's society is mass-production. Life is dying. Thought is dying. Revive it! Any way you can!
